GMBC 2020/21 SEASON Operating Instructions
It will be necessary for Members who play to comply with Club and Government guidelines and social distancing requirements. The Club guidelines to help members who would like to play and to do so safely are detailed below. They are in accordance with the Covid-19 supplementary guidance for lawn bowls clubs, developed by Bowls England, covering situations specific to the sport of bowls and approved by the Government Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport.
The objective of the guidelines is to ensure that all club members have the opportunity to obtain maximum enjoyment from the season both in terms of frequency and quality of the bowling whilst at the same time complying with the Government’s social distancing and other safety requirements.
You must make a judgement based on your own individual circumstances and perceptions. Please remember that you are responsible for your own health and must make the decision as to whether you wish to play and it is safe for you. If you play, you accordingly do so at your own risk. If you feel that you’re not able to comply with any elements of the guidelines, feel uncomfortable or have concerns aboutthe Club reopening, then you are advised not to play.
GORING MANOR BOWLS CLUB OPERATING GUIDELINES
The position regarding lockdown may be eased, reinstated or adjusted at any time during the current outdoor season so it is not possible to be prescriptive in defining play in these guidelines. We are all adults, aware of the situation and everyone is expected to act with discretion and common sense in both behaviour and in application of these guidelines.
Responsibilities on Social Distancing.
Individual club members will be responsible for maintaining distancing whilst in the Field Place grounds and it will be the GC, both collectively and individually, who will have the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that separation rules are enforced. Health and safety of members must come first and the following applies:-
Do not enter Field Place grounds if you have a new persistent cough, high temperature or feel unwell. Stay at home and follow appropriate health instructions.
The maximum number of players at any one time will be determined by the prevailing Government guidelines and may also be adjusted in the light of experience.
Players will provide their own drinks, hand sanitizer and pen for score cards. There will be no scoreboards.
There will be no hand shaking or high fives. Each bowler will only handle their own bowls. Use your hand sanitizer when arriving, leaving and on other appropriate occasions.
On the Green.
Green time may be rationed to allow fair use by all members wishing to play.
Play should only be on alternate rinks i.e. 1, 3, 5 or 2, 4, 6 as allocated in the booking to ensure there is an empty rink between the rinks being played on.
All players should stay 2 metres behind the mat when another player is bowling. Players must maintain good distance when looking at the head. Only standing on the mat when it is their turn to bowl and other players have returned to the rink marker.
When changing ends, players should move socially distanced by 2 metres down the left-hand side of the rink – movement is essentially clockwise.
Try to ensure one player looks after the mat and one player looks after the jack.
It is proposed that in initial stages of return to bowling that jacks are placed not rolled.
Use your own hand sanitizer after each occasion if equipment is handled by more than one player.
To minimise the risk of infection, only essential items (as below) should be utilised during any session:
• Mat • Bowls • Jack • Rink markers • Gloves • Scorecards (these should be retained by one person only if required) • Bowling arm/lifter (for use by one person only if required) • Bowling aids (for players with a disability if required).
To minimise the risk of infection, any other equipment is not deemed essential equipment at this time. This includes Scoreboards, Bowls pushers, Ditch markers and Chalk.
Players should bring their own hand sanitizer and any drinks required.
ALWAYS BE WARY OF CROSS CONTAMINATION.
Minimise multiple contact.
Use your hand sanitizer after each occasion if equipment is handled by more than one player.
Disinfect the jacks at the end of the session.
Disinfect the mats at the end of the session.
Club room facilities will only be provided if arrangements are agreed with Field Place that can conform to prevailing guidelines. Alternative arrangements will be made to enable members to apply for games/slots and for announcing selection/allocation.
Playing other Clubs.
